GUINEA-BISSAU

Guinea Bissau is the only West African nation that speaks Portuguese. Let us remember this nation in prayers for the Lord to raise up church planters and literacy teachers so that we can reach the nation through church planting and literacy. We have a Video Bible School to set up in Guinea Bissau. Please pray with us for funds to purchase our air tickets to fly there. PRAY FOR GUINEA - AFRICA

Guinea has been experiencing troubles for the past months. I believe this is time for the Church to go down to the knees to lift this nation to God for peace and for the Lord to open the nation to the free flow of the Gospel. Guinea is bordering with Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali and Senegal. Let us take Guinea as center for missions to reach the neighboring nations. We can only do that when there is peace.

Presidential and legislative elections are scheduled to be held in January and February 2010, respectively. Let us pray that the Lord choose His own leaders for the nation.

Gregory Bangura introduced Literacy Ministry to 25 participants during the Global Leadership Institute that was held in Bo, Sierra Leone. The participants came from Ivory Coast, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Gregory Bangura flies to Liberia on Wednesday, 5 August 2009 for two weeks. During his time in Liberia, he will conduct Literacy Awareness Workshops (LAW); he is also expected to speak to church and government leaders on Literacy matters. Liberia is trying to recover from the severe effects of a bloody civil war that lasted for more than 10 years. Gregory strongly feels that the foundational approach to lasting peace and speedy recovery from the war is through Literacy and Evangelism. Praise God, 3 pastors from Liberia participated in the just ended International Literacy Training Institute (ILTI) in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. 2 speak Kpelle and 1 speaks Bassa. So Gregory is exploring the possibilities to have Kpelle and Bassa Primers constructed in a very close future. These primers will help the Kpelle and Bassa to read and write their mother-languages. The entire Bible is been translated into Bassa and the New Testamant in Kpelle. Both Bassa and Kpelle are some of the major Liberian languages. Join Gregory to promote Bible-literacy in Liberia and throughout West Africa. Gregory currently serves as West Africa director.
